What’s happening: Speakers will include contributors to a new volume of essays on Lake District tourism, edited by John K.Walton and Jason Wood. Ian Brodie, former Director of Friends of the Lake District, will speak on the subject of landscape preservation. Contributors will debate the relationships between history, heritage, landscape, culture and policy that underlie the activities of the National Park, Cumbria Tourism and the aspirations to recognise the Lake District as a UNESCO Heritage Site.

Bendrigg Trust Cross Bay Walk 2013

What’s happening: This beautiful and exhilarating walk leads you from the shore at Arnside to Kents Bank accompanied at all times by a team of expert Bay Guides led by the Queen’s Guide Cedric Robinson. Radev Collection: Bloomsbury & Beyond

What’s happening: The Radev Collection is named after Mattei Radev, who came to Britain in the 1950’s as a stowaway on a cargo ship, fleeing from communism in his native Bulgaria. Radev went on to build a new life in London mixing in the artistic Bloomsbury circle and becoming a leading picture framer for the London Galleries. The impressive collection includes works by British and international artists including Duncan Grant, Alfred Wallis, Ivon Hitchens, Ben Nicholson and Lucien Pissarro.

What’s happening: Danzi : Wind Quintet in B flat Major Samuel Barber : Summer Music Op 31 Ligeti : 6 Bagatelles. This exciting wind ensemble of flute, oboe, French horn, bassoon and clarinet formed at The University of Manchester and Royal Northern College of Music and were runners up in the prestigious St Martin in the Fields competition.
